The Landing of Silver Spring (also marketed as “The Landing of Silver Spring by Leisure Care”) was an assisted living and memory care community on New Hampshire Avenue in the Colesville area. In October 2023 the property was purchased by Omega Healthcare Investors and CommuniCare, who gave residents a 45-day eviction notice (the state-law minimum) so the building could be closed for a year-long renovation and reopened as a higher-acuity skilled nursing facility. The sale displaced at least 53 elderly residents, including memory care patients, and drew coverage from the Washington Post and local news, as well as attention from Maryland lawmakers over gaps in resident-protection law.
